    Is there a way to type just the day, and the current month and year automatically get filled in?
    I am using the short date format.
    Thanks

      How would Access be able to tell what you wanted? You might be better off using a calendar control of some kind to allow them to click a date.

        Microsoft Money and Quicken have this feature. I thought that perhaps there was a way to do it in Access as well
        Thanks

          If that behavior exists in those apps, it was *built* into their interface. If you want to do the same thing in Access, you have to build it as well. Keep in mind that Money and Quicken are bookkeeping programs, so their functionality is focused in a particular direction. Access allows you to build pretty much any kind of database application you need, so it can’t make the same assumptions that Quicken and Money can. Plus, it doesn’t use the same kinds of controls. There are shortcuts, like the ones posted in this thread that can be used to enter the current date, but if you want to enter a specific date using only the day, it would be far more complicated.

      Ctrl + :
      will insert today’s date
      Ctrl + ;
      Inserts the current time
