I have one database that requests the database password when being opened. Others do the right thing and only ask when you try to get into the VBE but this one asks whether you start with or without the shift key. I obviously can’t distribute it like this. Anyone got any clues?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJune 12, 2006 at 4:29 am #1015797A database can have a VBE password, a database password, and a prompt for username/password. Apparently, a database password has been set on this particular database.
It is possible to disable Shift as bypass key for a database – see post 181,926. -

AskWoody LoungerJune 12, 2006 at 5:01 am #1015800Thanks for the fast reply. I have a copy of the database before I applied a database password. In the short term I can just disable the shiftkey on startup using the Property Editor written by Jamie Czernik but somebody could still edit this property to gain access. Previously I have applied a database password that was only prompted for when I opened the VBE I thought that it was the database password. this allowed users to edit and create reports and forms but denied acces to code which is what I want.
Do you know how to set the VBE password? -

AskWoody LoungerJune 12, 2006 at 5:06 am #1015801To set the VBE password:
– Activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11).
– Select Tools | Properties.
– Activate the Protection tab.
– Tick the “Lock project for viewing” check box.
– Enter the password in both password boxes.
– Click OK.The password will become effective the next time you open the database.
