Can anyone recommend a good internet resource that details and describes securing an Access 2002 database? Does it also detail any new features?
I know that the help system is good, but it doesn’t give a clear starting point.

There are several I can suggest – you might start with our User Security Tutorial, and also look in depth at Jack MacDonald’s User Security paper – ours contains links to a number of useful sources on the Microsoft site. Access User Security hasn’t changed significantly since Access 97, so the principles and the tools remain the same.

See the tutorial The Secrets of Security on moderator WendellB’s website. It contains an overview and many useful links. (I recommend the Security FAQ – the first link)

Another good resource is Access Security Info by fellow lounger jacksonmacd.

      Andrew,

if you have secured databases prior to 2000 the major differences in XP are

      1. you can no longer set permissions for individual modules. You now set a password for the code project. This is available from Properties under the Tools menu in the VB project editor. Look on the protection tab.

      2. The admin user may no longer be identical across different MDW files ( I have not worked out if this has an impact yet).
