Hello: I have an access 97 database that I inherited that is password protected. With the help of a database password cracker program I was able to crack the password. However, the password appears to be encrypted in some way. Question: Is there a way to de-crypt the password and if there is, I sure would like to share in this information?

A password cracker program worth its salt should have given you the clear-text password (otherwise it’s not very useful as a password cracker ). Are you sure the database isn’t corrupted? A corrupted database can appear as though it is password-protected.

Doug: Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure if the db is corrupted or not. Probably is. JetComp.exe couldn’t fix it. Can’t open it any other way to try to repair.

Can you open and compact it from VB? Sometimes that will get around form and report corruption, since VB doesn’t use the Access flavor of forms and reports.
