Database already opened (97)

I am trying to compact a database. I am getting the message, “database already opened exclusively by user “admin” on machine (my machine). Try again wihen database is available.” I am the only one here and I don’t have the database open. I have rebooted and everything. If the database is not open, what is the problem?

Do you share the DB with anyone else?

Yes. It is on a share drive. There isn’t anyone here but me and it is my PC asset tag that it is referring to.

Check the shared drive and see if there’s an ldb file out there. If you can delete the ldb file, you should be able to open it exclusively. If you don’t have adequate permissions to that share, that could be causing your problem.
