• .dat attachments (2003)

    Hi All,

    We just recently switched to Outlook 2003. When I send attachments externally, other systems (particularly Yahoo) receive it as “winmail.dat”. But, it can actually be opened correctly in Word.
    I have read the posts on this and have used Plain Text but the winmail issue still persists. Any suggestion would be helpful …

      Your message is being sent in Rich Text Format (RTF) also known as TNEF. Either this is your chosen mail format, or your Contact record is set to always send RTF, or it is being converted at the Exchange server.
