• Customizing toolbar buttons (IE6)

Is there a way to create a button on the IE toolbar which is a simple link to a webpage? A user wants to be able to click once to get to the page he’s looking for, rather than having to click the arrows next to “Links” or have his favorites displayed all of the time.

    TIA!

      Hi, CT ~

      If you have XP Pro:

      • Go to ‘Run’ > enter gpedit.msc > ‘OK’
      • ‘Local Computer Policy’ > ‘User Configuration’ > ‘Windows Settings’ > ‘Internet Explorer Maintenance’
      • ‘Browser User Interface’ > ‘Browser Toolbar Customizations’ > ‘Button’ section
      • You will need to create or locate a script to perform the action you need[/list]

Could expanding the Links toolbar, so the buttons are visible (& clickable), be considered a solution?
If so, you could even move it to it’s own toolbar line(?). Also, you would probably want to abbreviate the link names to have a reasonable number of links directly accessible.

Oh goodness…don’t I feel silly! Since Links is already a toolbar, we just had to unlock it and drag it to a new line. Thanks for your suggestions!

You’re welcome. smile Believe it, or not, I’ve been known to skip right past a simple fix to find a clever complex one. grin
