I am building an asp site in Front Page and have followed the instructions on customizing the confirmation page that displays once the site visitor has submitted data. What I’m running into is that the resulting confirmation page only shows the field names in brackets — not the contents of the fields. (Everything else — formatting, sequence, etc. comes through just fine.)

I’ve poked around everywhere I can think of and have not been able to solve this. The default confirmation page is not presented as a separate URL, but is generated in JavaScript. The built-in confirmation page template gives me the same problem as the one I build from scratch.

    I am using Office 2000.

Any help on this problem would be very much appreciated!

      I am curious,
When you used Insert, Component, Confirmation Field.
Did you give the confirmation field the EXACT same name as you gave the field in your form? This is the most common problem. (Including case)

        Good question!

Yes, the field names are typed correctly. I even cut-n-pasted from the form in a few places to make sure, and got the same results. I also tried using the “display” name (the one that shows up in the form field validation) as the confirmation field name, and of course that did not work either.

Is the form working otherwise? collecting data?

Yup, everything works just fine — the results publish to the database, etc. Just this one little flaw…

I believe I had the same problem and eventually just gave up (before I knew about the lounge!) and used all asp to handle the collection and confirmation pages.

I will be interested in the solution if one is found as I often build sites I turn over to the customer to maintain and if FrontPage can really do this right it would be easier for them.

The confirmation page is generated in JavaScript? Tell us more.
The classic FP uses a webbot to handle the confirmation page. Very little to see and troubleshoot there (unless there is a difficulty on the server end). So now I’m curious about the Java generation (let’s not get started with puns – some people hate ’em).
