Is there a way I can add my own shortcuts to the “Other Places” pane on the standard XP directory listing window? Microsoft claims it’s a place for “useful” links. Can I control what’s “useful” to me or is that for Microsoft to decide? (Sorry, I’m in kind of a sour mood this afternoon.)

That kind of mood is understandable here. smile You can customize the Places bar in one of two ways: 1) by using the Group Policy Editor, which is only available in XP Pro, or 2) by using TweakUI.
