I have a contact with three email addresses. If I want to send an email to that contact and select the “To:” button and look up the contact, I will get three options: email, email2, email3.

Is there a way to customize the titles for those emails? I can never remember which email is for which address without looking up the properties. I tried to customize the title in the “all fields” tab, but the option to change was not available. Any help would be appreciated.

Are these “email, email2, email3” the account names that you use for the different accounts? If so within the accounts area just change the name. You may have to go to a “advance” type button, but you will be able to change the name. I am running Outlook 2002 and this can be changed in the General tab of the “More settings” of each account. It has been some time since I played with Outlook 2000.

I originally thought I had the same problem – then in the “Check Names” (Change to) dialogue I noticed the horizontal scroll bar.

Clicking on this to scroll to the right displayed the full email address!

      Does that help?

That helps. I never noticed the scroll bar. I still wonder if there’s a way to change the title of the email. I would like it say “home,” “work,” “other.” Rather than email 1,2 or 3. Anybody know how to change that option?

Read my reply above, you must make these changes in the ACCOUNT properties evilgrin. Change the account as noted in tha attachment, the area that appears to be selected.

I think you are refering to something else. Here is what I want to do.

I have a contact in Outlook that has three email addresses. When I want to send him an email and select the “to:” option, he shows up with three email addresses to choose from. The way the name is listed is John Doe (email 1), John Doe (email 2), and John Doe (email 3). I can scroll the bar over to look at the addresses but I can’t see both the name and the email easily. I thought perhaps there was a way in teh contacts area to change the title of the email options.

If I go to the contacts area, I have a choice of five tabs (general, details, activities, certificates, and all fields).

I tried to go to the fields tab and selected the email fields option. When I checked the properties, they options are greyed out, not allowing me to make any changes.

Is there a way to change the properties of the email titles?

Sorry I read that YOU had three addresses and wanted to select which to use blush.

Sadly, even if you change them in your contacts record, they don’t seem to show up in the message that way. For example, if you right-click an address in the e-mail box in the Contact form and change the display name to “Wild and Crazy Guy” Outlook will save it. But when you try to send an e-mail, your version will not show up in the Address Book dialog, nor will Outlook resolve it to the correct name. Instead, Outlook will show the standard “firstname lastname (Email)” display name. (One of the reasons I still use a PAB.)
