    Hello All

I’ve managed to create a working help file for my database using a very nice friendly utility called cheetah9. Now it works great if I open it on its own, but when I assign the help file to a form, or control all I get is a blank grey help offering. I’m entering the name of the custom help file without a file designation (.hlp, .prj, .cnt) as the help file and a topic ID number into the Help Contect ID.

Anyone got any ideas as to what I’ve missed to get this result?

    Thanks

    Ian

Try setting the Help File property to the name (and path) of the help file including the .hlp extension

I’m having trouble linking my help file, too. I used MS HTML Help Workshop to do my help file. But I don’t end up with a .hlp file. I only have a .chm and a .hhp file. Could this be the problem?

Files with extension .hlp are Windows help files, as used by Office 97 and before. HTML Help Workshop creates, as the name indicates, HTML Help files, as used by Office 2000 and later, not .hlp files.

I tried the article you suggested, but that doesn’t work either. It only seems to work when you press F1 when you are on the TextBox control, but when you move to the button I just get a grey box. And the F2 does not work for the context-sensitive help. It just says that “iRetCode” variable is not defined. I’ve attached a copy of the simple database from this article so you can see what I mean.
