I have a hard copy of a Word document that displays some wierd additional text.

In essence, the normal text of the document appears where expected. This is followed two lines later by the following example of ??? text.

    Normal
    Normal
    Default Paragraph Font
    Default Paragraph Font
    IKD C:My Documentscover letter.doc
    Unknown
    Times New Roman
    Times New Roman
    Symbol
    Symbol

Etc, etc, finishing with the following:

    Microsoft Word Document
    MSWordDoc
    Word.Document.8

I have never seen any settings that can be enabled to give this sort of appearance in a Word document.

Any suggestions? It has me baffled.

    TIA, Leigh

The document appears to be opened as file type: ‘Recover text from any file’
Do File/Open and in the Open dialog window change Files of Type to Word document (or all files) and click on open.
If you saved the document when it was open in recover text mode, that addition text is now part of the document. Simply remove any unwanted text, reformat and save as a Word document.

      Good luck,

        Thanks Bob
That was the problem but I had never seen it before.
