Hi All and Happy 4th! (for those who celebrate)

I have a report that I created based on a crosstab query using the example from Solutions.mdb (the dynamic crosstab report that others have mentioned in various places here).

I’m trying to add some stuff to it to show %s: I am able to show the percentages of the rows, but I can’t figure out how to show the percentages of the columns.

In the example, the column totals are created in the footer, but they’re added up in the Format event of the detail section. As a result, the totals aren’t quite totalled in the detail section (the total would be the running sum as of that row). I can’t fill my controls from the footer event, because they’re past (ie. no numerator).

Does anyone know what event I can use to fill the column percentages? Or another way to do this?

    TIA!

    Cecilia 🙂

I have attached a zipped Access 97 database with an example of calculating column percentages in a dynamic crosstab report.

The example is inspired by Microsoft’s example in the Solutions database, but I found that to be painfully slow. In order to speed things up, everything in my example is done in the OnOpen event of the report.

I’m afraid that if you want to use this approach, it’ll involve a major rewrite of your report. Still, you might get some ideas from it.

      Regards,
      Hans

        Hi Hans!

Thank you so much for sharing this! It is incredibly more elegant than the original example (all those on formats and such–uggggh!).

        Beautiful!

        Cecilia 🙂
