• Creating Form Macro for Toolbar (2007)

We have recently converted to Oulook from GroupWise and I’m trying to recreate a phone message form for our users who had such a tool in GroupWise. I’ve created a simple, While You Were Out template, but once I began exploring Outlook Macros I become lost! I’ve read a bit here on the forum so understand that Outlook has no recordable macro tool. Also that it’s not “simple” to add a macro to a keyboard shortcut. I am going to purchase Sue Mosher’s book and look forward to exploring options in it, but I’m the first to admit that I’m not a VB person. I’ve done some fairly nice macros in Word and Excel, but they all have started as recorded macros with a bit of tweaking on the side. So starting from scratch is a bit daunting. Here’s what I’d like to automate. I know how to add a macro to a toolbar in Outlook, but I just need to get the VB macro created! Steps: Open Tools; Forms; Choose Form; from dropdown select User Templates in File System; Select While You Were Out; and finally Open the form.

I’ve attached a zipped copy of the simple While You Where Out template I created. I’m open to other suggetions if any of you have a better to suggested as a form.

In Outlook 2003, it’s possible (somehow, I can’t remember how) to add a form to the bottom of the Actions menu. This allows reasonably quick access to creating a new item based on that form. Not sure about Outlook 2007.

Is the second of the two forms that Brian Tillman notes here of any use?

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded and unzipped the second WHile You Were Out form and it’s very nice. However, the task remains on writing the Script to get it to a toolbar so users can use a one click to get to it. Thanks for the help in locating this template.
