Create an install CD with updates?

I would like to know if there is an easy way to create an install CD with all the service packs and updates post SP 3. All I have now is the recovery DVD’s made when I got my Vaio which includes SP1. The recovery discs have a bunch of programs I don’t want to have on the new disc. Can I take just the Windows install files with only the programs and drivers from the recovery discs and then slip stream all updates and SP’s since?

nLite allows you to create a customised install CD and remove unwanted bits while you are at it.

I use a freeware program called Autopatcher. Look for it on Google.

Once you get the slipstreaming down pat, you can enhance the install process even further by doing your favorite tweaks and installing your favorite tools and software.

Prior to last boot up, the XP install looks for file ‘cmdlines.txt’ in the Root$OEM$ folder and (if it exists) runs the command listed in it, e.g.:
[COMMANDS]
“cmdlines.CMD”

I can do a full, unattended install with all the lastest patches, my tweaks, and software,

including stuff that requires user input to install like, say, the latest Java runtime.

I may have missed something here, but I thought you said that all you have are the recovery disks that came with your laptop. In my experience, you cannot use the slipstream process or other links suggested unless you have an original Windows install disk. The recovery disks that come with most laptops have only an image that does not have the install files needed to create a customized install disk. You would also need a disk with the drivers for your specific computer, which also is not normally supplied with most laptops. However, those drivers can usually be downloaded from the vendor’s website. I tried to do just what you are saying with my Windows XP laptop, and this is what I found. When I recently bought a new laptop, I ordered a regular Windows 7 install disk — but I had to pay extra even though the laptop included a Windows 7 license, and I also had to obtain a separate driver disk from the vendor (in my case Asus).
