• CPU usage (IE6, bang up to date)

A week ago I installed Dragon Naturally Speaking. It runs fine. Next day I booted and opened IE I found everything incredibly slow. Task manager shows IE taking up 98-99% of CPU usage, which is running at 99-100%! I don’t think this is connected to Naturally Speaking, even though that’s the last thing I did.

Opera and Mozilla work fine. So does everyting else; but the moment I open IE everything grinds to a halt.

    Help sad

      Pat,

Which Windows operating system are you using? I know when our facility switched to Windows XP running IE 6, we had a similar problem. To fix it, we went into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, on the very left clicked Add/Remove Windows Components, made sure that Networking Services was unchecked. It worked for us but we work in a very controlled environment. So, I don’t know if it will work for you.

Please post back if it worked. If it didn’t work or you don’t have Windows XP, maybe someone else can provide a solution. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip Loretta. I’m afraid it didn’t work for me; but I’m grateful nonetheless. I’ve now discovered Mozilla and given up worrying!

        Best wishes for 2004
