Is the surface bork 2 ready for anything? on paper yes but…
Reading around the interweb on blogs/forums, this is not fit for purpose due to bad engineering shortcuts, shoe-horned components in order to look sleek and what airflow for thermals?

Previous issues with a mysterious throttled GPU forced MS to block the 1903 feature update.
Perhaps they de-throttled the wrong processing unit in a 1803/ 1809 patch.
Read that some were complaining about the lack of powerplans and how MS had removed options.
Underpowered PSU’s for the device causing battery drain whilst charging and in use.
Heat issues after prolonged use…did I miss anything?

everything you want from a new SLEEK device at a premium cost /snark

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

Really Thin and Lite and I’ll take flight as far away as I can get from that form over any real functionality nonsense. Just give me a regular form factor laptop with a proper cooling solution and I’ll be very happy.

Even a one inch thick laptop can still be lite enough and all that overly thin design mantra is just a marketing ruse. And Surface BORK 2 definitely describes what has been even more Apple like than even Apple with the pricing and lack of QA/QC on devices that really are not properly cooled enough to take advantage of the processors used.

And the same for smartphones that cost over $200 as that’s my limit and not a penny more. The entire devices market appears to be more about Gimping for profits than providing any meaningful compute capabilities in their product offerings.

I wonder if Mac Book will lodge a volley of complaints soon enough after a span of time?

Does this issue occur with any processor/configuration, or is there a specific setup that it’s screwing up? If it’s a Surface Pro 6 issue across the board, that’t horribly sloppy work on MS’s part.

Might be wider than just Surfaces? I’ve seen various ThinkPads getting stuck at 800MHz (base speedstep frequency) on 1809/1903 when on mains power recently. Unplug the mains and they pop back to normal frequency scaling, put it back in again … and blammo … 800MHz .

Full (shift click) shutdown and a BIOS/EFI reset seems to fix it … for a while. Then it comes back again.
