My start menu only shows 3 recent programs above the start key – how do I increase this to fill the panel?

I believe there is a setting that allows the password to be valid for a long time – where can I find this setting

switch user does not work on my daughters computer – I did (foolishly) play with some services – possible set something wrong – how do I re-enable the switch users.

    Thanks

    Simon

      1/ Start menu
Right click on taskbar, select Properties. On “Start Menu” tab select Customize button. The option you want is there.

      2/ Password
Select “Administrative Tools>Local Security Policy” (If Administrative tools is not displayed on your “Start Menu>All programs” then right click on taskbar, select properties, click customize and look at the advanced tab for option to include administrative tools)
Once you start “Local Security Policy” program select “Account Policies” and then “Password Policy”
Double click on “Enforce password history” in the right hand pane. If you set the option to 0 then you will not need to change your password. Alternatively you can set “maximum password age” by double clicking on that item.

      3/ Switching users
1 possible solution, On control panel select “User accounts”
Select “Change way user logs on or off” and make sure “Use fast user switching” is selected.
The service that you need to make sure is started is called “Fast user switching compatability”
I don’t know if any other services are required.

For Password Settings, you can choose Computer Management in the Administrative Tools folder. Drill down per the attachment and then double-click on the relevant User. The first tab will give you the password change options.
