Hi Loungers, I’d like to count the number of unique timekeepers in given range. I am using the formula {=sum(1/countif(a2:a879, a2:a879))} as obtained from a Walkenbach book; however, this is not working.

    Any ideas?

Are there blank cells in the range? If so, try one of the formulas suggested in the thread starting at post 466150. Otherwise, please post more info or attach a small demo workbook.

Hans/Legare, thanks. I finally got it to work; although, felt sure I had entered w/control shift enter before. Sorry, but thanks for your guidance.

That formula works fine for me. Are you entering it as an array formula by holding down Ctrl+Shift when you press Enter to enter the formula and not typing the {} around the formula (Excell will add the {} around the formula if you correctly enter it as an array formula). You also can not have any empty cells in the range to use that formula.
