Cortana Not Working

Hello loungers

I’m running Win 10 Pro on a ThinkPad T510. 8 GB RAM. 512 GB HDD.

Build Info: Build 14393rs1_release161220-1747 which I am assuming is Win 10 Pro AU (but who knows).

I haven’t been using the system much since I’ve been primarily using my work laptop which is still running Win 7. Anyway, on or around Wed Jan 11, 17 I did get on this system and discovered 2 issue that are pretty troublesome.

1-I can’t start the Windows Firewall but I’ll open another thread about that.
2-Cortana does not allow me to type into the Cortana search box on the task bar.

Everything else appears to be working properly.

If you can help with the Cortana search issue, please respond here. If you have insight into the firewall issue, please reply in that thread.

Try the troubleshooter at Troubleshoot problems opening the Start menu or Cortana (download/run)

Download a Win 10 ISO to create bootable media by using the Download tool now button in https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 which includes instructions for either a DVD or USB and then perform a repair install, by opening Windows Explorer – This PC – insert the media then double click on it to run the repair install, but I usually disable my Norton first to pre-empt any problems on the second final reboot.
