I am trying to copy a worksheet that has a lot of cell names.
every thing else is being copied OK, but not all the cell names.
    why is this?

    Thanks
    Jim.

I suspect because you now have two sheets with the same names in your workbook. I don’t know to which sheet the globally defined names will refer, press goto and enter the name to find out.

Either the source sheet or its copy will have local sheet names, that is, the name is preceded by the name of the sheet.

I actually opened a new workbook and copied to that.
some of the names copied, but not all.

Is it possible that the names that did not copy are not being referenced in any of the sheets?

Could you show us an example of name(s) that did not copy (with their refers-to formula?)

Sorry I’ve left this so long, Jan Karel, I’ve been off for a couple of days with a bit of a cold.
Came back to the lounge today to get back to you, and found a post “Save a sheet as a workbook” with the suggestion from Tong Pak to try EDIT> MOVE OR COPY SHEET.
This worked, of course, copying *all* the names.
            Thanks anyway,

            Jim
