Converting DVD files for use in standalone player

I have several video files in both FLV and MP4 format. How do I convert them/transfer them to a DVD disc so they will be playable in a standard DVD player not connected to a computer.

Also, is it possible for me to convert a DVD music file in Mp4 format for use as a regular music file for use in ITunes/IPOD

Convert the flv to mpeg-2 files (Mp4 should work as is but if not convert them as well) with Format Factory or your converter of choice. I’ve used DVDFlick very successfully in the past to create a standalone DVD player disc.

For the audio, not sure, maybe with Audacity you can strip out the audio as an MP3 or Ipod compatible format. I just use any one of my video editors to export the audio only if need be so I’m not aware of any other freebies that might work.

It’s been a few years but I usually used whatever the latest video software from Ashampoo – Burning Studio, I think it is. Never had problems, even got the paid version a couple of times. While they send frequent emails, I found most of their stuff works just fine, and the paid versions of all their software are affordable. They stand by what they sell and their customer service I found to be helpful and speedy.

The ‘trick’ is to be very careful of the save-out format; the term used varies from app to app, so it pays to read the manual or help pop-up. Same goes for audio. Years past many apps had trouble with DVD menus; these days most of ’em work fine. So be warned, I guess, you may end up making a few coasters along the way.
