Convert Text Numbers To Text (2002)

I have an excel file I’m trying to import into Access. There are some numbers in a column that have the green triangle that says the number is stored as text. When I import the spreadsheet I loose those numbers and get an error table of conversion errors for those cells. How do I get Access to import those text numbers as text?

Create the table with the apropriate fields with you problem field set as text.
Import the excel file into the created table.

I was able to fix this by selecting the column in Excel, then Data | Text to Column and this converted all the numbers to text format. Then importing the file went successfully. I simply forgot about the Text to Column menu item.
