This morning I was asked for help on how to work with one of our Veteran’s PDF documents.
    — That person wants to edit it, but he doesn’t know how at this point, I don’t know how either.

Then I noticed that there was also a Microsoft Word Document (.docx) of that PDF document.
    — I suspect he was able to convert the PDF to a MSFT Word Document (.docx) on a trial period, but now he would have to continue with a paid version.
    — At the same time, I’m wondering is it possible to edit the Microsoft Word Document (.docx)?

Since I’m not familiar with what to do yet, I’m not sure of what questions to ask.

So now that I’m home, I did some research, with so many options it looks like this may be a good consideration.
Convert PDF to Word online for free | Adobe Acrobat.

It looks to me like it’s worth trying.
Further down in the questions section, there is
You can also try Adobe Acrobat Pro free for seven days to: convert files to and from Microsoft 365, edit PDF documents, edit scanned documents with OCR, merge PDFs, organize or rotate PDF pages, split PDFs, reduce file sizes, and convert HTML, TXT, RTF, PNG, JPG, BMP, and other formats to PDF.
    — If he isn’t using Microsoft 35, will that still work?

Another question I have is, is there an Adobe Acrobat Reader that could be helpful in working with PDF’s with Word?

    EDIT
” So now that I’m home, I did some research, with so many options it looks like this may be a good consideration.

Usually I use my .txt file to create what I’m writing about but I made the mistake of using my Word.docx file.
As a result, Convert PDF to Word online for free | Adobe Acrobat turned up as a link.

Now that I’m on my .txt file Convert PDF to Word online for free | Adobe Acrobat, the link becomes

I have the full blown Adobe here at work and you can export out to word.

Thanks Susan. I’ll be able to discuss those items with my friend who has to decide what will suit him best as I’m sure he’ll have future use to rely on.

If you have Word, then you can use Word to open the PDF. Word can then edit any part of the document. If after editing the document you wish to save as a PDF, you will have to save as a PDF of a different name (Word will not over write the PDF it opens). You can then move that PDF and change the name back to the original name to have an edited PDF.

If you just want to convert a PDF to a Word document, I suggest Free PDF to WORD Convertor at the following link. It is an off line convertor that does a good job on most PDFs.

If you don’t have Word and want to be able to fill out a PDF form and save as a PDF to send back, there are numerous online choices; but if you want an off line app I suggest PDFill Free PDF Editor at the following link. The free versions works very well for filling out forms. The only drawback is every time you use it and go to close it will open its web page for you to upgrade to the premium (for $) version. Actually it seems to work better on some PDF forms than Word does.
