Hello: (This is not a software question)

Can anyone advise me how I could delete an icon in the Control Panel, I have tried to unistall a software, and there was a problem, I went on to symantec, and searched, however, I already had the Knowledge base source, which I followed initially,

Is there a way to delete an icon from DOS, when I try to reinstall winfax, says there is already a version installed, but there is not.

By delete an icon, do you mean that you trying to uninstall winfax from Add/Remove progams? Symantec is well known for leaving bits and pieces of information in the registry that cause problems when you uninstall their products. Did you follow How to manually uninstall WinFax or TalkWorks PRO or How to uninstall WinFax Basic Edition manually?

        Hello Joeperez:

I spoke with tech support, and here are the conclusion, which might help someone else,

For the issue where the customer is receiving the error “Previous version detected”,
if the issue persisted even after following manual uninstallation, you can give the
        following steps:

Please note, the symclean utility may not remove all of the Winfax product. Follow
“ALL” the instructions in the manual remove document, do a search for “winfax” in
the registry, delete emntries found and make sure to delete the following registry
        key:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMICROSOFTWINDOWSCURRENTVERSIONUNINSTALL

Delete the “WinFax” sub-folder under the Uninstall folder.

Close the Registry Editor, ” restart the computer.”

Note: If there are Winfax files or folders that will not delete, restart the
computer in SAFE mode, delete the files, restart the computer in normal mode

        Joe, thanks for your support
