When designing forms which font and point size give the developer the most flexibility for unforeseen future needs (scalable verse non-scaleable, etc.) ?

How can I set default font and point size for creating controls from MS Sans Serif 8 to Tahoma 8?

What is easiest way to change all controls on form from MS Sans Serif to Tahoma 8?

How can I tell what Screen Resolution an inherited form was created in?

    Thanks, John Graves

I prefer scalable fonts for my applications, usually Arial or Tahoma. To set the default, create a form template by creating a form with the characteristics you want and saving it. Then go to Tools–>Options–>Forms/Reports and inserting the name of that form in the Form Template textbox. After that, any new forms you create will use your template with respect to color and other properties. However, my A2k forms default to Tahoma 8, don’t yours?

To change all the controls on a, open the form in design mode, use Edit–>Select All and change the font using the Formatting menubar.

As far as I know, you can’t tell what resolution the form was created in except by guesswork based on whether it fills the screen or overflows it and on the size of the font selected.

        Hi Charlotte

        Thanks for the info

Your right, ak2 defalut is Tahoma, recently converted from a97 and appartenty my default was MS Sans Serif.

If it’s a converted database, it will inherit the default from the previous version, which was the MS San Serif. A new database will default to Tahoma.

When in design mode, you can set the current settings for a control to be the default settings for all future controls of the same type. You have to repeat this for each control type (textbox, combobox, etc.). In Access97 anyway, from menubar select Format | Set Control defaults.

To change fonts for all controls depends on what view you are in. In design view, start at a corner of your form and just click and hold right mouse button to create a box that touches all controls. In property settings you will see it says “multiple selections” (or something like that). If you can’t change font, then you’ve included some controls (like a line or box) that don’t have a font property.

There is no way to tell what screen resolution a form was created in.
