Hello Everyone,
I am currently working on a contract management database for our real estate office. I am trying to determine the best route to take in my design for data entry. They want it created inside…because I know there are lots of contract managment software available.

Any ideas or samples….

What are the requirements for the output? Depending on the answer, you could build the entire application in Access (with reports that can be printed and exported to PDF), or you could create the contracts as documents in Word, controlled from Access by VBA code. Keeping everything in Access is simpler, of course, but if the contracts need complex formatting, it might be better to use Word documents.

The actual contracts are scanned and the location is entered as a hyperlink so we can pull up the actual contract at anytime. I was more interested in design. I mainly use the switchboard and create data entry forms as well as form for printing reports. Trying to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. The VP likes the dashboard type displays (number of suites avaiable, total square footage available, on the spot contact numbers). Not sure how to design that….

I have created a form using tab controls to enter the information relating to the property itself…but I am having problems entering data. Once, I created the query of all the tables linked by property ID…I can not add a new record.

Any ideas about any of it!!

You shouldn’t create a form based on one huge query that combines all tables. Instead, create a main form based on the central table, with subforms based on the other tables. Before you start building the database, think out the table structure – use a big piece of paper or a whiteboard.

I am one step ahead of you…I have it mapped out on green bar paper.
I was using subforms and then had this grand idea about using the tab form control. I guess I need to go back to my original idea.

You can put the subforms in the tab pages of a tab control on the main form.
