My step-daughter is starting a job as a news presenter on an international station that’s readily available live (streamed) on the web, but not on cable.

What would enable us to watch her on a “real” television, based on an Internet connection?
XBox? (expensive solution for a non-gamer)
some kind of wireless network from the computer?

(Computers are far from the TV, wired solutions not practical).

Do you own a laptop? a wireless network with a laptop that has a DVi-out port would solve this quite easily.

edit: maybe you could borrow a friend’s laptop for the same purpose. the DVi-out wire is about $12USD from your local computer store.

No, unfortunately, we don’t own a laptop…just 2 desktops. Is there a wireless solution that will work with a desktop?

Not that I know of, but there well could be a wireless solution out there.

Many inexpensive AGP video cards have video out ports, and come with a cable that hooks to your TV. Of course, you don’t want to have your TV a foot from your computer, so a trip to the nearby Radio Shack (if there is one nearby) to get an extension cable might be necessary.

Maybe something like this Wireless PC to TV Video Converter?

(There seem to be a few hits when Googling for “wireless tv pc connection”.)
