After years of automatically fully rebooting after a power outage my computer has started to require unlocking in the event of a reboot. I have never set this up, it has just happened all on it

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerNovember 22, 2002 at 6:48 am #633718The only UNLOCK mechanism I know is the one I use when I leave work every night. I type CTL-ALT-DEL and the dialogue that pops up allows me to LOCK the computer WITHOUT shutting it down. Anyone wishing to use the computer after that has to log in (including me). The log in is almost immediate, especially if its me.
This works on NT, 2000 and XP if logged in to a domain. I dont know about workgroups or XPHome.

Have you checked the control panel/user accounts/change the way users log onoff to see if you might have the- use the welcome screen box unchecked and are using the “classic” log on, which requires a user account name to log on? Also joeperez has another possibility to check, see his post.BTW, the Vikings really got around in their day. Most of Europe, Asia, North America. Never got around to South America or Australia for some reason. Probably too long a distance to row..very tiring !
