    Hello Everybody!

    I have received a presentation, that is about 100 MB large. It contains a lot of pictures, which are reduced to a size of about 25% (Graphic | Properties | Size). I know that from Version 2002 on there is an internal function to reduce the original size to the shown size. Is there a function in 2000 as well, or will I have to use external tools?

    If someone has a hint for me, it will be very appreciated!

    Thank you in advance.

    Many greetings, Porley

      Porley,

      It’s either a case of doing it do it manually or using a third part application.

      See,
      Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

      To do it manually

      In powerpoint . select the picture…edit > copy . Start MS Photo Editor (nothing else will do…not photoshop not psp)
      Edit > Paste
      Save the picture as PNG or JPG
      Then re-size the picture (using your favorite pixel basher) to the correct amount of pixels (see tutorial on graphics above)
      Then Insert > picture from file (in powerpoint)
      Re-size be using the corner handles to avoid distortion.

        Thanks for your answer. If you use an external tool, you may also take IrfanView. It is very simple and effective.
        * Copy the resized picture to the clipboard
        * switch to IrfanView
        * Insert picture from clipboard
        * Copy picture to clipboard again
        * switch to PowerPoint
        * Insert picture from clipboard
        It will have the same size as before and the same quality (at least, I did not see it on the printout). Only now the picture shows a scale factor of 100% and not a smaller one. So the presentation can be shrinked easily and very fast. Nevertheless, you have to take an external tool… and this I wanted to prevent.

        Many greetings, Porley

          The RnR Optimizer (and, I believe, the nxlite optimizer also) is most definitely a third-party tool, but it is at least a PPT add-in, so you can compress your images within PPT without having to rebuild the entire presentation.
