I am sure this must be very simple but I can’t find a solution anywhere – is it possible to insert pages into a Presentation with style, background, colour etc set up a certain way and yet still have the inserted pages retain their original style, background etc and not adopt the master ones of the base presentation? In other words, is it possible without creating the whole thing from scratch to have presentation slides from various external sources within a single powerpoint presentation but retaining their individual layout and colour scheme?

With XP I believe it is possible to have multiple slide masters, but in PP97 and PP2K, the only way to do this is to use hyperlinks to jump to the other presentations. HTH –Sam

I used to use PPT 97 allot and did what you mentioned on a regular basis. I hope this is how I did what you are looking for.

Copy a single slide from the slide sorter view, then paste it into a normal view slide. To re-size, select the pasted object and hold control while dragging the object corner place holders to fill the entire slide. If you are crossing over many slides, this could a few minutes. I think this method could be your best option as it will allow you to edit the embedded slides without having to commit to keep an additional presentation tied to your resources.

My direct answer is NO, you cannot have multiple masters in 97 or 2000. But you can fool it from the procedures Ryan suggests. However in the presentation you are copying FROM, create a blank slide and copy the image from the notes page. This give you a background you can paste and stretch and put in “back” of another slide. The rest has to be done manually (Matching colores, etc)

I had the same problem and found a solution that works for me, though maybe not for everyone. I found a program that takes a presentation and converts it into graphics of itself. These can be inserted into another presentation and will not be changed by it. The disadvantage, of course, is that the graphic slides cannot be edited. So, if you need to make a change, you have to go back to the original, change that, reconvert, and reinsert. For my own use, it is just perfect.

Misfortunately, I don’t seem to have it here so I will have to wait until I am back at church to see what it is called and where I found it. Google did not pop it up for me. But I will be back and post a link.

Thanks to you all for some very good answers. in the end, I had to upgrade the user in question to Office XP because the need was urgent, but it would be very useful to take on board these solutions and know of any cheaper options(as Paul suggested) for the next time it happens.
