Is there an easy way to designate a color or shade of gray for the lines that separate columns. I know I can draw lines in place of the column-separating lines. but I am looking for a more elegant solution. Thank you. J. Till

      Hi J. Till:
Are you talking about borders in a table? If so, you can select the columns or the table & go to Format/Borders & Shading…/Borders tab & change the color from Automatic to whatever you want. You can apply it to selected cells or the whole table. If you will use this table frequently, you can save it as an AutoText entry.
      Cheers,

Phil, thanks for your reply, which I will save for my future reference, but I am not talking about tables or columns in tables. This question is just about columns in a Word document (Format….Columns). J. Till

          Hi J.Till:
OK, now I understand. I don’t know of a way to change the color of the vertical line that separates the columns. However, if you do use a drawn line instead, you can save it as an autotext entry. In fact, you can set absolute positions for the lines & save autotext entries for 2 columns, 3 columns, etc.
          Hope this helps,

You could put a table in the header for the section to fake the line…
