Noticed on KB 4284833, the June 21, 2018, Win10 1607 (& Windows Server 2016) cumulative update, which brings the OS Build up to 14393.2339:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) devices running the Intel “Clovertrail” chipset will continue to receive updates until January 2023.

It notes that the latest Servicing Stack Update, KB 4132216, must be installed prior to installing the latest cumulative update.

Windows 10, version 1607, reached end of service on April 10, 2018. Devices running Windows 10 Home or Pro editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.

IMPORTANT: Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education editions will receive six months of additional servicing at no cost. Devices on the Long-Term Servicing Channels (LTSC) will continue to receive updates until October 2026 per the Lifecycle Policy page.

Yeah, so version 1607 got 4 support policies 😀

      Home/Pro ended April 2018
      Enterprise/Education ends September 2018
CloverTrail devices (any edition) ends 2023
      Enterprise LTSB 2016 ends 2026

Clover Trail can’t really handle Windows 10 at all, realistically they’re Windows 8.1 only and not much else. It was a mistake for MS to upgrade these machines and I think they only realised afterwards so they halted it.

The main problem is the PowerVR-derived GPU – the video driver is too buggy under Windows 10 and Intel have not released any updates. I tried to run Windows 10 1607 on an Acer Iconia W3 with an Atom Z2760 but encountered flashing images in some apps, such as Microsoft’s own Solitaire app.

      Hello,

I’m currently using windows 8.1. I tried to used 10 but reverted to 8.1 for peace and tranquility. Anyway sometimes I would need windows 10 for some specific purposes. I thought about using this 1607 x64 version (with pro) even if support has ended. I read that security updates are still available for clover trail, but that some were able to install those updates on “normal” pc with 1607 pro/home. My goal is, as someone said on another place, to get a “LTSB for the poor” version, with no feature update, but with security still. Actually, I saw on microsoft update catalog that cumulative updates exist for 1607, interestingly it is written for “windows 10, windows LTSB”. So it’s not ltsb only, good, and maybe – I don’t know – it contains those “clover trail” security updates. I remember some time ago I tried to apply one CU to a brand new install of 1607, but it failed saying something as “no applicable”, or kind of. I’m wondering how I could get it working. Maybe through specific manual updates, if they are available, but I didn’t find them. Only found this CU on MsUCatalog.  Please if someone could help telling me how to success, after – this, I know how to do it – having installed 1607 pro 64 from scratch on my pc it would be awesome. Thanks a lot.

I have not found anything that won’t run under W8.1 and see no reason to upgrade to W10 on my current machine.

If you must upgrade to W10:
Make an image backup of your PC to external USB hard disk.
Download the latest W10 ISO and burn it to USB.
Boot the USB and install from scratch.

If it won’t work, revert to your backup.

      cheers, Paul

thanks. My question is about windows 10 1067 with clovertrail updates. How to find them and apply them to windows 10 1607 64 pro.

Unfortunately there are apps on the store that are not available with windows 8.1. And I will need them, at least on another computer. So I’ll need windows 10 for it. 1607 would be perfect for me if I can apply security updates, even manually. Thanks for your support

Clovertrail devices are x86 only, thus 1607 x64 updates won’t work for you

last time i check, you can install 1607 updates to nonLTSB editions (e.g. Pro) by adding the CU from offline session using dism

i.e. if you have multiple systems installed, boot to the other and add updates to 1607 system

or use 1607 ISO and boot to WinPE, and add updates to installed 1607 system from command prompt (press shift+F10 to show it at installation screen)

      thanks sounds amazing to me.

not sure I’ll be able to do that. To my knowledge dism is mostly used in order to slipstream updates before installation. Am I wrong?

Please, you also say I could install updates if I boot on another system. Let’s say I dual boot 7 or 8.1 with 10 1607. If i’m with 7, how can I install updates for 1607?

And last suggestion, if I boot from iso and reach the cmd window, what shall I do to install the cu update?

      Thanks for your patience.
