Close Application button is greyed out (disabled) (Project 2002)

On a pc I have Project 2002.

I noticed that the Close Application button is disabled -greyed out. and cannot be used. see screen capture below.

The only way to close the application is via the menu File, Exit or using the shortcut keys.

any ideas why this may have occured, and or how to fix? should I just re-install Project?

Does this happen with any other MS office products? Or is it only with Project?

Do you use Groupwise as your email program?

this is occuring with just MS-Project.
no we dont use GroupWise as email. We use Lotus Notes.
