If I upgrade Win 10 1909 to 2004, should I uninstall Classic shell before doing it ?

I’ve never needed to uninstall Classic Shell before moving from one version of Windows 10 to another.

However, sometimes after the new version finishes installing, a message has popped up claiming that Classic Shell is “incompatible” with Windows 10. For a while, Microsoft was even blacklisting Classic Shell’s filename, so that you couldn’t install it (you could get around this by renaming the EXE file), but I think these MS shenanigans have mostly abated now.

Classic Shell is now Open Shell and the later versions work well on Win10.

      Download Open Shell 4.4.160 here.

Classic Shell was discontinued a few years ago and superseded/replaced by Open Shell

remove Classic Shell and install Open Shell instead

I am on 20H2 and have no problem with Classic Shell running. Yes, I get the messages about it not being acceptable but I just click past those and all is well.
