Attached is a simple spreadsheet to determine pricing for an event consisting of X tables, it shows the price, the food & labor expenses, the overall profit and the profit per table. I can declare a desired profit per table and have the spreadsheet calculate the appropriate price adjustment to achieve that desired profit per table. However, I seem to be unable to create a formula where that adjustment is automatically applied to the overall price.

    Can anyone help with this?

If you are looking for a calculation in B2B4 so that B9=B8 try in B2B4:
      =B9*B2+B5+B6

I seem to be unable to create a formula where that adjustment is automatically applied to the overall price.

Wouldn’t it be easier to bypass applying the adjustment and instead enter =B5+B6+B9*B2 in Cell B4? I’m assuming all costs vary by table count – if one or both are fixed, it’s more complicated.

(Oops, I just repeated what Steve proposed, if in fact he meant to say use his formula in Cell B4, not B2.)

Thank you so much – of course those are the correct formulas to do it – why didn’t I see that initially? I must have a circular reference issue in my head.
