• Chrome tile has no icon

I wasn’t sure if this should have been a post some other forum, but it seemed appropriate.

I have installed Chrome x64 3 times, and cannot get any icon in the tile on the start menu.

Or, the one time it did work, it was the Chrome icon on a gray background instead of transparent — except of course for the icon itself.

Is there some trick I am missing?

Not sure from your post which version of Windows you’re running, but maybe something (version-adjusted as necessary) like this?

On Win7 box I’m currently using:
Start menu > All Programs > right-click on offending program > Properties > Change Icon button > Select icon from list > OK

      Hope this helps.

        The OP is using Win10.

Ok. Not sure which version of Win10 OP is running, but for version adjustment for Win10 box maybe try something like this?

Start > right-click on offending program > More > Open file location > right-click on offending program > Properties > Change Icon button > Select icon from list > OK

          Hope this helps.

I have seen this occur, but only in a highly locked-down corporate environment.  It seems to be related to the application update process (and mainly impacts Chrome and MS Office).

I don’t have a permanent fix to stop it reoccurring, but a simple temporary fix is to right-click on the tile and change its size (the icon reappears) and then change the size back.

See if that works for you!

      Cheers HS
