For several weeks now, Chrome is not remembering website logins. I have to login each time to websites each time after I restart the browser. Curiously, one site remembers me and one site remembers my 2FA code so I don’t have to enter it (but I do have to enter my password). I have ensured that Chrome is not set to clear cookies upon exit. Before this time, LinkedIn and other sites remembered me and I did not have to login each time I restarted the browser.

    • Clear cookies and site data when you quit Chrome is OFF
    • Allow sites to save and read cookie data is ON
    • Auto Sign-in (Automatically sign in to websites using stored credentials) is ON
    • Save passwords is OFF (I use a password manager extension)
    • Extensions: 1Password, Roboform (disabled), Google docs offline (disabled), Docs, Sheets and Slides
    • Tried deleting Google profile in Chrome and set it up again, but that did not help

I use Sandboxie and I checked all these settings with the browser NOT in the sandbox. Chrome 81.0.4044.122, Windows 10 Home 1903. How can I get Chrome to remember websites? I posted this question in the Chrome forum on Google.com but I never received a response.

Hi lavaro from Windows Secrets, I think you have checked your end fairly well and I believe Chrome is keeping your cookies in a new session. Consider the host servers you are visiting and how they see your credentials when you arrive with a new request.

If any part of your presented information has changed you would expect the host to verify again that you are who you say. My own IP address has always been dynamic at my service provider. These days it seems to be more dynamic ( more frequent switching ) than last year. Some sites may not be particular about this. But anything that pretends to be secure and requires a log in should ask for you to verify again. You may also want to look into whether the previous log in session is still open “from a different device”.

Is it possible that your IP address, or any other part of your credentials, changes between browser sessions?

I think the problem is due to my sandbox. I use Sandboxie with Chrome. I tried accessing a few websites outside of the sandbox and the sites saved my login information (these are sites that normally save logins from session to session). When I put Chrome back in the sandbox, the problem started again. I may try to roll back to an earlier version of Sandboxie. I don’t have this problem on my other computer and it’s running an earlier version.

      Hi.

I’m using Opera (which is chrome-based) and suddenly (like a few days ago) it’s having the same strange thing. Websites I visit often, suddenly bugging me about cookies. And the next day, again and again and again…

So it could be a bug in the chrome-browser-engine !

(Why can’t big company’s repair things with an update instead of breaking down this that used to function?)
