(I posted this query in the Windows 7 Forum back in January of 2014, but so far I’ve not had any responses. I hope I am not violating any protocols (and apologize if I am) by reposting it here in Security & Scams, but I was hoping for some guidance and thought that someone who hangs out here might have an answer.)
In Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit, SP1) under the Services tab in the Task Manager, I see an entry that appears to be in Chinese characters
(楗敳潂瑯獁楳瑳湡t) for both the Name and Description. Every time I’ve looked, the Status is Stopped. I have not intentionally installed a Chinese language pack. If I search for the word Chinese, I do pull up four .lang files (KillSwitch.Chinese.lang, FileExplorer.Chinese.lang, CCD.Chinese.lang, and Autorun.Chinese.lang), though I don’t know whether those have anything to do with the entry under the Services tab. (KillSwitch and CCE are reported to be part of Comodo Cleaning Essentials.) I have run the usual group of malware/rootkit checkers with no malware found. I have also searched for anything like this in my directories, again to no avail.
Can anyone kindly enlighten me about this Services entry?
