My manager recently mentioned to me that she believed she had heard of a feature wherein you could check documents in and out of Word. I believe what she wanted to accomplish is the ability to basically ‘flag’ a file as no longer in our control and routed to the originator for their use.

We don’t have a document management system (which will be a future goal, I’m assuming). Any knowledge of this kind of feature existing in Word currently?

    Thank you!

I think your manager overheard someone talk who has Docs Open. I don’t know of anything in Word 2002 that allows you to “check in/out” documents. Document Management systems such as Docs Open, Imanage, and WorldDoxs do though.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance.
