On Sunday morning, I made my usual shopping expedition to our local markets. The city where I live is well known for its agricultural produce and in season there is always good fresh produce to be had. I wanted one orange to make this choclate cake. Normally I can go and visit my friendly neighbour and choose one from his hundreds of hectares of trees, but I was in a hurry and paid the little man at the market his money.
I was appalled, when I got home and unpacked my goodies. There was one of those annoying littel fruit stickers on the orange that had stars and stripes on it!!! I’d bought a Californian orange. And no I still haven’t made the cake, and the orange is sitting there on my kitchen bench. It gets glared at whenever I walk by.
