AskWoody LoungerJuly 15, 2003 at 6:45 pm #693779Characters 32 to 127 are “regular” characters.
Characters 128 to 255 are the upper ANSI character set. The first hit in Google was http://www.fingertipsoft.com/3dkbd/ansitable.html%5B/url%5D.
In recent versions of Windows, many more characters are available: Unicode characters. See http://www.unicode.org[/url%5D. -

AskWoody LoungerJuly 16, 2003 at 11:33 am #693958I would like to say that it was from my quest for knowledge of DOS that sent me searching for this info but really my son came home from school and his grade 6 French teacher showed him how to get the é (acente graf e, I think). I had no idea it was possible. It’s amazing what an eleven year old can teach you.

You can also use windows own character map to see the alt-key combinations for specific characters. To run, do Winkey-R and enter “charmap”. You can pick the font to be used and copy characters to the clipboard selectively. The alt-key combo is shown in the bottom right corner, on the status line. It also has an advanced view to select character sets, and to search for a character by name.
