I’m assisting a friend with a chart he created. He’s trying to change the axis label from 1-12 to Jan-Dec on the line chart in the workbook attached. I can’t figure out how and where it’s pulling those labels so I can change them. Thanks….

It’s easiest to enter the month names Jan – Dec in A45:A56 (enter Jan in A45, and fill down to A56).
Then activate the chart, and select Chart | Source Data.
Click in the Series tab, and specify =’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$A$45:$A$56 in the Category axis labels box.

      See attached modified workbook.

So how did you do the bar charts that had three columns for one month?

Their series are based on disjunct cells, e.g.

          =(‘Attendance Statistics 2004′!$B$37,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$E$37,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$H$37,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$K$37,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$N$37,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$Q$37)

So I set the Category axis labels to disjunct cells:

          =’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$C$3,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$F$3,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$I$3,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$L$3,’Attendance Statistics 2004′!$O$3,’Attendance Statistics 2004’!$R$3

As in the other chart, you can see this by activating the chart, then selecting Chart | Source Data and activating the Series tab.
