I am running MS Office XP. I recently reinstalled everything and the drive lettering was confusing, so I resorted drive lettering. I have all my files on a different partition. I had Excel files on G and changed them to F. It won’t let me go into settings and change where to save them. I was able to change Word files that was the same way, without a problem, so don’t understand why Excel won’t let me change it.

Can you clarify what you mean by “

It won’t let me go into settings and change where to save them”? Are you not prompted for a location when you save a file for the first time?

File – options – save (in XL 2010) has a default file locations. In earlier versions I recall it being in tools – options…
