change word’s accent bar in page number templates

Hi,

using word 10.
I insert page numbers using word’s templates. I like the one under Design/Page Number/Bottom of Page/Accent Bar 2.

This puts a light accent bar across the bottom at the footer.

My question is, I want to change the color of that accent bar, but can’t figure out how. I have tried to select object, but that doesn’t work.

It is text. Select it as if it were the letter “l.”

If you want to actually have it be a building block, you’ll need to save it as one.
If I were saving as a building block, I would create a character style to hold the color and apply that style.
I would do the same thing for all variations I would be using. I generally do not use the page number building blocks because I don’t like it that they replace my existing header/footer.

Hi Charles,
I can’t seem to select it. The accent bar is right on the footer line. that is, when you double click to be editing the footer, the footer indicator blue dotted line is right on the accent bar line.
I tried to select but it doesn’t.

I had no trouble selecting it. I place the insertion point before it. I hold down the shift key and press the right-arrow key. It is selected.

Hi Charles,
I see the confusion I caused. The accent bar I was referring to is the horizontal line above the page number. It appears a light grey on my document. I would like to be able to change that to the light green that I made the page numbers.

That is a paragraph border. You can change it once you have your insertion point in the page number line.
