Is it possible to change a computer’s owner’s name in the registry? If so, where do I find the listing within the registry? This is for a computer that will be donated to a local thrift shop and the owner wants his name removed or changed. Thanks for your help.

The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion key contains two string values that you can edit: RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization (the latter is usually blank for a home PC).

Hi Hans, thanks for the input. Actually I found three keys – one for RegOwner, another for RegisteredOwner and the third was RegisteredOrganization. I used the FIND command under Edit to find them and got them all changed. Thanks again.
