I’m helping a friend with the following. He’s just installed a new 80gig HD [and has partitioned it using Partition Magic 6.0]

He has win98 SE, and his current bootable HD is 3 gig partitioned into 2.5 g [boot drive] and 0.5 gig. The C drive is full – hence adding a new HD.

He wants to move his bootable drive to the new HD, in effect moving the C drive from the old HD to the new.

Can this be done? If so, what is it called, how is it done? Can someone direct me to a resource for doing this so that I can direct him?

    Many thanks.

Most new hard drives come with a floppy containing utilities that will do exactly what you want to do. If not, you can download the tool packages from the manufacturer’s website (Maxtor, Western Digital).

Most times you connect both drives to the box, boot with the floppy, and follow the instructions on-screen. Very painless. If that isn’t the case though, feel free to post back and let us all know what’s not right!!
