Running Windows XP Home with all of the latest Microsoft service releases/updates. Have 2 CD/DVD drives. Within the last week, any attempt to run or even access any .exe files on either CD/DVD drive causes my PC to lock up totally. When using Explorer on CDs, everything appears fine (able to view and/or open files) until Explorer encounters an .exe file. Even Ctrl-Alt-Delete is disabled at that point. Have run virus checks, disabled AutoPlay, and tried various other things to no effect. Any clues?

Don’t know if your EXE problem is just on CDs or everywhere, but you ought to check this thread and check your machine for scumware!
