Hi loungers….I apologize in advance for being so forgetful about this….my CD drive isn’t working—I want to burn a few files to a CD-R disk…..the drive shows up in My Computer but when I try to access it, I get a “drive not accessible” message……I recall that I changed some settings that probably have turned off access to the drive….can someone suggest what I might have done to create this problem, so that I can un-do it? Or, suggest what else I can do to make the drive accessible….the drivers are up to date etc and I can ‘see’ the drive as a device, but can’t access it.

    Thanks

The easiest fix is to uninstall it first. Find it in Device Manager, right click, and then choose Uninstall. Reboot, and let Windows reinstall it.

If it’s still not fixed, here’s the standard HP list to work through click here

The filter problem is very common in XP, and there’s a link to an MS fix if you don’t want to edit the registry.
