I have to distribute CDs to all our regional offices but I need to include a booklet (6 pages approx printed on both sides) into the CD case to inform people what is on the cd, how to use the files etc etc. I need a template to create this booklet in either Word 2000 or any freeware. The powers that be will not allow me to have Publisher or Adobe. brickwall

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

      Hi Hetty:
I copied this tip from somewhere a long time ago & can’t recall the author. In that case, the person was using size A4 paper. You can modify the page size as desired.

      >>I want to produce a document with A5 size pages printed two pages to a sheet on A4 paper. They should print alternate pages eg 1/4, 2/3 or 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5 etc for stapling.

      1. Produce your text in one document set at A5 size.
      2. Create a new document.
      3. Set the Page Size to A4 landscape.
      4. Insert as many pages as you believe you need, (e.g. 12 sides insert 5 page breaks to give you 6 pages).
      5. Now create two text boxes at A5 size on your page (remember to leave space for what will become your fold and margin space). If you’re going to copy one de-select the one you’re copying or you can wind up with a text box in a text box.
      6. Copy these two text boxes throughout your pages. (For this step I usually reduce my view to about 10% to see all of the pages)
      7. Create a text box link from one box to the next in page number order (e.g. the right text box on page one, links to the left box on page two, which links to the right box on page 3 etc) to achieve your “bind up order”

Save this document as a template.

      Hope this helps.

I would love to have this, but the IT Steering Committee won’t give me the ok, the cheap b***ers. So I will be giving Phi’s method a try.
